General & Preventative Dentistry Station Street, Fairfield

At Alphington Dental Care we will do everything possible to ensure your teeth are healthy so you keep smiling for life. Dental care is like so many other aspects of life, the sooner the problem is identified, the easier and simpler the solution.

At your first appointment we will:

  • Listen to you and understand your needs and goals
  • Comprehensively examine and assess your oral health needs
  • Take x-rays where necessary
  • Clearly explain your treatment options
  • Make sure you feel comfortable
  • Develop a prevention and maintenance program that is specific to your needs

If required we will clean and polish your teeth to keep them healthy and looking their best. The good new is, by attending for regular examinations, your dental costs will be reduced over time.

Gum Treatment

Bleeding, swollen and tender gums can be signs inflammation of the gums, or gingivitis. Correct brushing and interdental cleaning or flossing will help to reduce the bacterial levels in the mouth and prevent gingivitis. Over time the bacteria that we have not removed from our teeth can absorb minerals from our saliva and form hard tartar that is difficult to remove. When you attend your regular examination appointments, we will examine your gum health and provide a professional clean to remove the hard tartar from the tooth surface to prevent gum inflammation. If there is long-term untreated inflammation, gingivitis can progress to a disease called periodontitis. During this process the bone supporting the tooth can dissolve leading to bad breath, tooth mobility and sometimes even tooth loss. It is important to have your gum health examined regularly so that the early signs of gum disease can be detected and treated. Regular maintenance can control gum disease so that you can keep your teeth for life. Continue Reading

Fillings/Restorations

When teeth are damaged by decay, fractures and trauma, the inner layers of the tooth are exposed and could cause pain and loss of function if not restored to their normal shape. We place white fillings, which adhere to the tooth and can be matched to the colour of your natural tooth. Continue Reading
