Partial or Complete Dentures Fairfield & Alphington
The natural process of ageing causes changes to your teeth, oral tissues and saliva. Many general health conditions, such as diabetes and chronic stress, tend to occur more commonly as we get older and can impact on our teeth. As a result, older adults face increasing rates of tooth decay, gum disease and other conditions causing oral discomfort. Additionally, many medications and medical treatments that you receive can interact with the treatments and medications that we use for dentistry, so it is extremely important that we are made aware of your complete medical history. At Alphington Dental Care we will always be careful to conduct a thorough assessment of your general medical needs and how they impact on your oral health so that we can provide you with the optimal solutions for maintaining your oral health.
For those patients wearing partial or complete dentures, regular examination of the way they are fitting in your mouth is just as important as checking your natural teeth. Poorly fitting dentures can cause pain and problems with the gums and soft tissues of your mouth and can cause chewing and talking difficulties. The shape and position of the teeth and jaws is perpetually changing, so we recommended checking of dentures at least 12 monthly regardless of the age of the dentures.
